Dental Biomaterials: Scope and challenges for future

Abstract

This article reviews the current state of restorative biomaterials by examining the roles of truly biological biomaterials and traditional synthetic biomaterials. Biological biomaterials are discussed in terms of tissue engineering and stem cell research. Future developments for major areas of synthetic biomaterials are considered for bonding systems, composites, visible light curing and ceramics.
